Understanding Tadbir's Data Storage
Tadbir is designed with privacy in mind. We operate on an offline-first model, which means:
- No mandatory account: You can use Tadbir without creating any online account
- Local storage: Your financial data is stored only on your device
- No server-side data: We don't maintain databases with your personal information
- Optional cloud features: Cloud backup is completely optional and requires your explicit consent
How to Delete Your Data
Option 1: Delete Local Data (Most Common)
If you're using Tadbir in offline mode (the default), all your data is stored locally on your device. To delete it:
Method A: Clear Data Within the App
- Open the Tadbir app
- Navigate to Settings (⚙️ icon)
- Scroll to Data Management section
- Tap Clear All Data
- Confirm by tapping Delete Everything
- All transactions, categories, budgets, and settings will be permanently deleted
Warning: This action is irreversible. Make sure to export your data first if you want to keep a backup (Settings → Export Data).
Method B: Uninstall the App
Uninstalling the Tadbir app will automatically delete all local data:
On iOS:
- Long-press the Tadbir app icon on your home screen
- Tap Remove App
- Select Delete App
- Confirm deletion
- All local data is immediately and permanently removed
On Android:
- Go to Settings → Apps
- Find and tap Tadbir
- Tap Uninstall
- Confirm uninstallation
- All local data is immediately and permanently removed
Option 2: Delete Cloud Backups (If Enabled)
If you previously enabled cloud backup features, your encrypted backups are stored in your personal cloud storage. To delete them:
Google Drive (Android Users)
- Open the Google Drive app or visit drive.google.com
- Navigate to Backups or use the search bar to find "Tadbir"
- Locate backup files named
tadbir_backup_YYYYMMDD.enc - Select all Tadbir backup files
- Tap the Delete icon (🗑️)
- Confirm deletion
- Go to Trash and permanently delete the files (optional but recommended for immediate removal)
Deletion Timeline: Files are permanently deleted from Google Drive Trash after 30 days, or immediately if you empty the trash manually.
iCloud (iOS Users)
- On your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings → [Your Name]
- Tap iCloud → Manage Storage
- Find and tap Tadbir in the app list
- Tap Delete Data or Disable & Delete
- Confirm deletion
- All backup data is permanently removed from iCloud
Deletion Timeline: iCloud backups are immediately deleted and cannot be recovered after confirmation.
Option 3: Request Account Deletion (Future Feature)
Currently, Tadbir does not create server-side accounts. If we introduce optional cloud accounts in the future, this section will provide detailed instructions for requesting account deletion.
If/when cloud accounts are available, you will be able to:
- Submit a deletion request via in-app settings
- Email us at privacy@tadbirlabs.com with subject "Account Deletion Request"
- Receive confirmation within 48 hours
- Have all account data permanently deleted within 30 days (GDPR/CCPA compliant)
What Gets Deleted
Local Data Deletion Includes:
- All financial transactions and receipts
- Accounts and balances
- Categories and budgets
- Custom settings and preferences
- App usage history (stored locally only)
- Any photos/attachments linked to transactions
Cloud Backup Deletion Includes:
- Encrypted backup files stored in Google Drive or iCloud
- All historical backup versions
- Sync metadata (if applicable)
What We Don't Have to Delete (Because We Never Collect It):
- ❌ Browsing history or behavioral analytics
- ❌ Third-party tracking data
- ❌ Social media connections
- ❌ Location history
- ❌ Advertising profiles

Before You Delete: Export Your Data
If you want to keep a copy of your financial data before deletion, Tadbir allows you to export:
How to Export Data
- Open Tadbir app
- Go to Settings → Data Management
- Tap Export Data
- Choose format:
- CSV: For use in Excel, Google Sheets, or other spreadsheet apps
- JSON: For technical users or importing into other finance apps
- Select export location (email, Files app, cloud storage)
- Tap Export to save your data
Recommended: Export your data before deleting if you might need tax records, expense reports, or historical financial data in the future.
Your Rights Under Privacy Laws
GDPR (European Users)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of all personal data
- Right to Data Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate data (done within the app)
CCPA/CPRA (California Users)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information we've collected
- Right to Know: Request disclosure of what data we have (none on servers currently)
- Right to Non-Discrimination: Exercise rights without penalty
Verification & Confirmation
How to Verify Deletion
Local Data:
- Open the app after deletion – you'll see the welcome/onboarding screen
- All previous data will be gone
- No recovery is possible after local deletion
Cloud Backups:
- Check your Google Drive or iCloud storage – Tadbir backups should no longer appear
- If files are still in Trash, they'll be permanently deleted after 30 days (Google) or immediately (iCloud)

- Subject line: "Data Deletion Confirmation Request"
- Your device type (iOS/Android)
- Date of deletion
- Whether you used cloud backups

Troubleshooting
Can't Find the Delete Option in App?
- Make sure you're using the latest version of Tadbir (check App Store/Play Store for updates)
- On older versions, go to Settings → Advanced → Reset App
- Contact support if the option is missing: support@tadbirlabs.com
Data Still Appears After Deletion?
- Restart your device to clear cached data
- Check if you have multiple devices with Tadbir installed (delete from each device separately)
- If using cloud sync, disable sync first, then delete local data on all devices
Cloud Backups Won't Delete?
- Ensure you have permission to delete files in your cloud storage
- Check if backups are in a shared folder (you may need owner permissions)
- Contact Google/Apple support for cloud storage deletion issues
Re-Installing Tadbir After Deletion
If you decide to use Tadbir again after deletion:
- You can re-download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store
- All previously deleted data is gone permanently and cannot be recovered
- You'll start fresh with a clean slate
- If you exported your data before deletion, you can import it back (if import feature is available)
