Understanding Tadbir's Data Storage

Tadbir is designed with privacy in mind. We operate on an offline-first model, which means:

How to Delete Your Data

Option 1: Delete Local Data (Most Common)

If you're using Tadbir in offline mode (the default), all your data is stored locally on your device. To delete it:

Method A: Clear Data Within the App

  1. Open the Tadbir app
  2. Navigate to Settings (⚙️ icon)
  3. Scroll to Data Management section
  4. Tap Clear All Data
  5. Confirm by tapping Delete Everything
  6. All transactions, categories, budgets, and settings will be permanently deleted

Warning: This action is irreversible. Make sure to export your data first if you want to keep a backup (Settings → Export Data).

Method B: Uninstall the App

Uninstalling the Tadbir app will automatically delete all local data:

On iOS:

  1. Long-press the Tadbir app icon on your home screen
  2. Tap Remove App
  3. Select Delete App
  4. Confirm deletion
  5. All local data is immediately and permanently removed

On Android:

  1. Go to SettingsApps
  2. Find and tap Tadbir
  3. Tap Uninstall
  4. Confirm uninstallation
  5. All local data is immediately and permanently removed

Option 2: Delete Cloud Backups (If Enabled)

If you previously enabled cloud backup features, your encrypted backups are stored in your personal cloud storage. To delete them:

Google Drive (Android Users)

  1. Open the Google Drive app or visit drive.google.com
  2. Navigate to Backups or use the search bar to find "Tadbir"
  3. Locate backup files named tadbir_backup_YYYYMMDD.enc
  4. Select all Tadbir backup files
  5. Tap the Delete icon (🗑️)
  6. Confirm deletion
  7. Go to Trash and permanently delete the files (optional but recommended for immediate removal)

Deletion Timeline: Files are permanently deleted from Google Drive Trash after 30 days, or immediately if you empty the trash manually.

iCloud (iOS Users)

  1. On your iPhone/iPad, go to Settings[Your Name]
  2. Tap iCloudManage Storage
  3. Find and tap Tadbir in the app list
  4. Tap Delete Data or Disable & Delete
  5. Confirm deletion
  6. All backup data is permanently removed from iCloud

Deletion Timeline: iCloud backups are immediately deleted and cannot be recovered after confirmation.

Option 3: Request Account Deletion (Future Feature)

Currently, Tadbir does not create server-side accounts. If we introduce optional cloud accounts in the future, this section will provide detailed instructions for requesting account deletion.

Before You Delete: Export Your Data

If you want to keep a copy of your financial data before deletion, Tadbir allows you to export:

  1. Open Tadbir app
  2. Go to SettingsData Management
  3. Tap Export Data
  4. Choose format:
    • CSV: For use in Excel, Google Sheets, or other spreadsheet apps
    • JSON: For technical users or importing into other finance apps
  5. Select export location (email, Files app, cloud storage)
  6. Tap Export to save your data

Recommended: Export your data before deleting if you might need tax records, expense reports, or historical financial data in the future.
